A star has born
It is evident that the music scene has gone through many transformations but Hip-Hop is one field that has successfully maintained the interest of millions of music lovers. And the name that has emerged from the other artists is the name of ‘Eminem’ (Marshall Mathers).
It was the year of 1999 Eminem came out with his debut album ‘Slim Shady LP’ and with his first album he proved that he is here to stay. This also assisted the fact that hip-hop is not just a genre of music but it has to go a long way.
Eminem’s childhood was not usual one and it is reflected in his songs those are mostly centered on single parents and poverty. But it didn’t took much time for the music lovers to start swinging to the song ‘My Name Is’ from his debut album which was a massive hit and remained on the top on different musical charts. During his childhood he and his mother were always on the move sometimes making a stopover at the relatives in Missouri and Kansas City. He never got a chance to make friends like other kids and he stayed away from his comics and television which confirms his improper upbringing.
When Mr. Marshall was just twelve years old his mother after wandering here and there finally settled on Detroit’s east side. It was not like he didn’t want to go to the school, he went to Lincoln Junior School and Osbourne High School there he made friends. Soon he was listening to singers LL Cool J and 2 Live Crew. He also took part in various rap competitions while he was in the high school. There his talent was recognized and appreciated. The only thing that led to his failure in the ninth grade was having a liking for missing school.
As Mr. Marshall tasted failure in the ninth grade he continued doing odd jobs and at the same time giving full concentration to his music. He performed with many groups such as- New Jacks, Basement Productions, and Sole Intent before he made his mind to go solo. It was the year of 1998 he came out with Slim Shady EP which featured the original version of the song ‘Just Don’t Give’. And luckily the copy of the album reached out to Dr. Dre who is a well known figure in the rap/hip-hop scene and was responsible to create N.W.A. and The Chronic. Dr. Dre then went to become the president of Aftermath Entertainment. He immediately signed Mr. Mathers with Aftermath Entertainment and after that it was no stopping for him. The album ‘Slim Shady LP’ debuted at Number three on the Billboard Album Chart and within top ten positions on other musical charts. And it was just the beginning for Mr. Mathers, soon he became a recognized name in the Hip/Hop scene.
If we go by the data then he has the largest list of admirers. In the year 2004 Mr. Mathers was also voted for the election for the first time. He never revealed for whom but it might be for the music that he loved and that is Rap/Hip-Hop.
